Zentrum für Netzkunst

Zentrum für Netzkunst reconstructs, maintains and preserves net art and net culture. As the only initiative in Berlin, the association researches the possibilities of archiving and contextualising net art with a special focus on the Berlin scene. Zentrum für Netzkunst was founded out of the panke.gallery in order to focus on archival work and to establish a model ‘museum’ platform for net art. The curatorial programme reflects the structure of the members - it promotes a historical narrative across different generations of users, is embedded in an international context and carries our specific local and personal histories of technology.

Net art repository

The net art repository based on wikibase software was created withtin the scope of the reconstruction project "without addresses" in 2024. It is a database storing records on reconstruction activities of Zentrum für Netzkunst. Taking the reconstruction of without addresses as a modelling case study, the net art repository was build in such a way to acommodate future reconstruction and documentation effords. Taking the Rhizome's artbase as a starting point, net art repository has been expanded by further vocabulary to describe secondary documentation of net art.
